About Kendra Vintage Properties

Kendra is not a person. Kendra is a family business, named after elders Kenneth and Sandra, who began transforming old homes over 50 years ago with the purchase of a 19th century boarding home in Chicago's Lincoln Park. Bought for $17,000, the young couple transformed the building's delapidated efficiency rooms into a beautiful single-family home as the then-gang-filled, run-down neighborhood also began changing around them.

In the decades since, our family has rehabbed numerous homes for ourselves and others. All of them, old. Where most think of dirt and age as ugly, we find beauty. Every old home is full of lost stories, and we uncover them with our work. We especially love "time capsule" homes; craftmanship was often better in the olden days, and if it's lasted this long, why destroy it? Once that history is destroyed, you can't get it back.

We find most of these homes in disinvested areas in and around Chicago, where we're passionate about preserving the city's architecture and offering beautiful, affordable homes to those who need it. Along the way, we end up having a small role in helping families, blocks, and neighborhoods.

Oh, and cats. We can't forget the cats. Too often, we find stray cats in around our houses, many left behind when people moved. We work with Paws and other local shelters to feed and neuter the ferals and find homes for the friendlies.

We buy homes. We fix them up. And we offer beautiful, affordable homes to communities who need them. We are real estate professionals who care.
